A Mistake Repeated More Than Once is a Decision

A mistake repeated more than once is a DECISION.  

So, you lost weight on Ideal Protein Weight Loss Protocol and went on your merry way.   Then the “Creep” took over. You know the “Creep.”  That’s the “gremlin” in your brain that makes decisions for you and always win.  Any time you get into negotiations with the “Creep” you lose.   Then, suddenly,  you are 10, 15, 20 pounds heavier than you were when you “finished” the Plan.   Day by day you didn’t notice the Creep, but day by day, slyly,  like thin, smooth layers of butter on your toast, the Creep was packing it back on.

First, how and why did you “finish”?  I thought this was a “permanent life-style change.”

Second, OK, you’re back.  Let’s get to work, untangle the details, and this time we won’t “finish.”

In case there was any confusion when you first walked in the door, there is no “end” to a “healthy life-style.”

No doubt sugar and carbohydrates are highly addictive. We know that it is almost impossible to say no to sweets when placed in front of us without any obstacles to access.

When the Plan was working for you, you had success because you removed several obstacles and added support.

If you are failing now, struggling now to get back on Plan, you are trying to cook a recipe without all the necessary ingredients.

Go back to your “cookbook” and see what ingredients you need today for success.  This time may be different than last time you succeeded so don’t be afraid to change the recipe a little.

You can DECIDE to SUCCEED or FAIL.

Eating at Restaurants on Ideal Protein Weight Loss Protocol

It’s true.  You can have your restaurant and lose weight too!  Thanks to Diane and Michael who together lost more than 100 pounds and gained a ton a confidence for these tried-and-true Tips and Tricks to dining out while on Ideal Protein through all the phases!  They list some of their favorite restaurants who are very happy to help you lose weight while eating their Ideal Protein compliant meals. Who knew weight loss could be so much fun!  Congratulations Diane and Michael for your success in achieving great health and being extraordinary leaders for all of us to follow and learn from!

Tips & Tricks:

  • Make Friends! … we have found that by asking for ‘help’ customizing your order, you feel/sound a little less like Sally Albright and people tend to be happy to help. Tip accordingly.
  • Salads – hold the cheese and croutons
  • Salad dressing: Olive oil & lemon/lime wedges…add pepper and you’re good to go! (often the vinegar served is red wine or balsamic…the citrus is our sub)
  • Ask for without butter/sauce, but EVOO is ok J. Since many veggies (even when listed as ‘steamed’) and meats come with extra butter on top or other sauces (even if not listed on the menu!), always best to ask for things ‘without’ to be sure.
  • AVOID: soup, bread baskets, appetizers, desserts, entrée salads (that’s a surprise, I know)
  • Ask for a gluten-free or other specialty menus…sometimes great ideas/substitutions are already available!

Favorites:

  • UNOs:
    1. Steak Tips – hold the onions
    2. Top Sirloin
    3. NY Strip (if you are allowed extra protein like Michael, OR share OR take home half)
    4. Herb-rubbed Chicken
    5. Sides: Broccoli, Roasted veggies
  • LongHorn Steakhouse
    1. Your choice of steak (watch portions and no extra toppings)
    2. Sides: Asparagus, Broccoli
  • Burton’s Grill – house favorite…they will cook you anything!!! Menus may vary…and items may come and go, but if you remember it and loved it, ASK! PS – have not had the best luck at Westford location, but love Nashua!
    1. Your favorite chicken breast, steak or fish…prepared to order (grilled, Cajun/blackened…the best!)
    2. Sides – green beans, broccoli, may vary by season
  • Red Robin – what??? Yes you can!
    1. Turkey burger in a lettuce wrap; build-it-yourself with lots of veggies and no sauces, no cheese
    2. Sides – broccoli, and it’s UNLIMITED!

    1. Fit for You Seasoned Salmon (find it in the description of the Fresh Glazed Salmon which you do not want…balsamic)
    2. Steaks, steak tips
    3. Sides: Broccoli, tomato, asparagus
  • T-Bones – these folks cook for real, also…and are very accommodating. Some items are noted as ‘In the Pink’ on the menu…to show they are lighter…usually need a bit more tweaking, but good start.
    1. Steak, but nothing marinated
    2. Signature Salmon – YUM! (no butter, please)
    3. Grilled Chicken Greek Salad (hold the cheese, swap dressing)
    4. Sides – broccoli, occasionally other seasonal veggies
  • Chipotle – salad, no beans, veggies & chicken (double depending on your protein needs), salsas to taste (I get both Mild & Medium)
  • Lui Lui (am I crazy, that’s Italian, right?)
    1. Wood Fired Vegetable Salad – when asked, they will cook the veggies in olive oil only (no balsamic)…go for the double veg and add chicken or salmon if you like…this is awesome!
    2. Wood Fired Salmon
    3. Sides – veggies vary…ask what’s on deck
  • Places that ‘cook for real’ – always the best bet and most willing to customize
